PeaceWorks: Navigating Workplace Conflict with Confidence

Workplace conflict has profound effects on employee well-being and organizational performance. A 2025 report indicates that nearly two-thirds of U.S. workers have experienced incivility at work, with poor communication, egos, and stress identified as top causes of conflict. Addressing these issues through effective conflict resolution strategies is essential for fostering a healthy and productive work environment.

In this interactive presentation, we look at the implications of conflict in the workplace, and what research reveals about conflict. We will also look at its far-reaching effects and ways to ensure that conflict does not become a debilitating influence, first, on the individual and then on the overall team.

Be prepared to share your views on this subject as we work together to devise multiple strategies for HR Professionals to eliminate conflict and create a positive environment in our workplace.

    Jerry Covella, Focal Point Coaching

Jerry Covella is a lifelong Vineland resident. He is a graduate of Saint Augustine Prep and a member of the school’s Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in cross country and track. He then attended Glassboro State College and graduated with a BA in Communications and Journalism. His post-graduate studies focused on finance and business administration. He spent 21 years as a journalist. During that time, he received national recognition for his investigative reporting. He also served as editor overseeing content and design in the daily paper. After leaving the newspaper business, his entrepreneurial spirit took over as he launched various successful niche businesses … as a magazine publisher, a business consultant and as co-owner/director of two childcare centers in Vineland. Jerry launched FocalPoint Coaching in December of 2016 and is privileged to have clients from small business owners to major corporations across the country. He has also provided coaching support within the public sector, offering coaching services to Cumberland County Government and Rowan University.

Recently, he engaged in a special three-year coaching initiative through the Texas Workforce Commission; a program offering personalized 1-to-1 coaching to childcare providers across the Lone Star State. In 2023, he was named the recipient of Campbell Fraser Award for Coaching Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by the organization across its international network of coaches. In February of this year, he announced a rebranding … from Focal Point to Clarity Partners. The rebranding marked an expansion in services with a more defined model to allow small business owners an opportunity to engage in the coaching process through an affordable, efficient structure. He is married to Deanne, the love of his wife for 38 years and has two daughters, Nicole and Caitlyn. He is the proud father-in-law of Brian Innella, a police officer in Lower Merion Township, PA and loving “G-Pop” to his 20-month-old grandson Jake.
