Recalculating! How the Pandemic Has Caused Older Employees
to Rethink Social Security & Medicare Filing Decisions

    Description

After a decade of historic growth, America’s aging workforce was blindsided by the unprecedented disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The combination of health concerns, layoffs and volatility in the financial markets forced many older employees to rethink their retirement plans… and the Social Security & Medicare filing decisions upon which those plans are often built.

This fast-paced, engaging presentation looks at the Social Security & Medicare basics that are in play for older employees as they approach retirement. It then explores some of the specific challenges that have emerged as this group attempts to navigate the unique, and often complex, eligibility and enrollment landscape where retirement & healthcare benefits intersect with Social Security & Medicare.

The benefits-related content of this program is designed for HR audiences of all experience levels, and can be of personal interest to those approaching retirement themselves.

    Learning Objectives

    1. Understand specifics of how the Covid-19 Pandemic has shifted the factors older employees must now consider as they approach Social Security & Medicare filing decisions.

    2. Build a solid knowledge base regarding the basic benefit structure of these foundational American retirement programs.

    3. Gain knowledge of specific Social Security & Medicare eligibility and enrollment issues that arise in the context of work-related retirement and healthcare benefits, thus becoming a more effective 'frontline' resource for older employees.
