    Medicare and You

Medicare is the federal program that most retired Americans age 65 or older use as their primary medical insurance. Medicare can also cover younger people who qualify due to disability or permanent kidney failure.

The Human Resources Departments of many companies work hard to provide support and service to their employees regarding their health benefits. The one area where knowledge has been lacking is the understanding of Medicare eligibility and coverage for both active Medicare-age employees and spouses and former employees continuing on the employer’s plan or enrolling in COBRA or The Marketplace/Affordable Care Act. This is a growing challenge as many of our young seniors are continuing to be active in the workplace.

At our Meeting on February 12, 2020, we will be reviewing the 4 components (Hospital Services, Medical Services, Supplements and Prescription) of Medicare.

Medicare Supplement Plans are standardized. As a result, if you were to purchase Plan G, it would be the same Plan Design  whether you had AARP, Aetna, Bankers Fidelity, Gerber Life, Horizon, Transamerica or Mutual of Omaha. It would just be a matter of the rates and who was administering the Claims.

In addition, we will review IRMAA (Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount) if an Individual's Income is above a certain amount.
